Road and dirt options for riding this Saturday:
There's the regular road ride, leaving from the shelter at 9am as normal.
Remember, if you're riding on the road, it's October now, so we're in mudguard season. If it's wet or mucky and you turn up without sufficient mudguard and flap coverage to protect the rider behind you, someone's going to be shouting at you and you'll be riding at the back
Or for those who have knobblier wheels, we'll be doing the first of our Winter off-road club runs.
Chris Clark has planned a route and sent details:
SATURDAY 06/10 CLUB RIDE. Meet 0830-0845 for 9am start at Hutton-le-Hole Car Park, it's off the Rosedale/Lastingham Road at YO62 6UB / SE 705 901 It's £4.50 & I'd bring change, there are toilets.
You will need an MTB for this ride, not CX/Gravel although it's you're choice. Any bike should be in good working order & you will have spares, tools & self sufficiency.
The ride will have a cafe stop roughly half way round. You should dress for a day outside in the uplands without tree shelter, we will pass over 1300ft & expect it to be 3 degrees colder at that height.
I will bring a marked map for each rider & I'll expect you sign a disclaimer sheet & add an emergency contact. Sorry about this, although we use VC York 3rd party insurance through BC I'm organising & it clears me if liability.
The route will be mostly rideable, some short hike-a-bike but as ever that's down to ability. We may ride the Fryup Waterfall but it carries an A&E penalty for getting it wrong so I'll decide on the day given who is riding.
If you're planning on attending this ride, please either let Chris now in the club's WhatsApp group, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll pass on the message.
It's probably prudent to share lifts to Hutton le Hole, so I'd suggest organising that amongst yourselves or in the WhatsApp group.
Have a great weekend!
