VC York Weekly Bulletin - 4th April 2017

Here’s your weekly VC York bulletin:

IN RECENT RACING:

Phil Graves managed 9th place at the 4th round of the YH Spring Series critical races at YorkSport after putting the pain on the peloton for the majority of the race

Pete Hook unfortunately missed the Circuit of the Dales 50 mile TT due to illness - Get well soon, Pete.

Phil Graves did race the Circuit of the Dales (racing for NoPinz), taking the win with time of 2:03.45, and then rode home to York!

Outside of racing, Jon Grant was in Belgium at the weekend, riding the Ronde Van Vlaanderen sportive, just 20 weeks after breaking his pelvis and collarbone.

THIS COMING WEEK:

Pete Hook will be in the Ravensthorpe 10 mile TT on Saturday.

Chris Clark will be in the Nutcracker XC Round 2 at Gandalf near Catterick.

Jonathan Apaloo will be competing in the Keith Carter Memorial Road Race at Newbald on Sunday, his first of the season. It's a lumpy 3/4 cat at 53 miles long.

A number of VC York riders (John and Pete Hook, Richard Hutchinson, Neil Kerry, Pete Lambert, Mark Lawrence, Rob Pape) will be at the Scotton 100 on Sunday, taking on some of Knaresborough's rougher roads. Famously, the Scotton 100 is 'not a race', but I'm personally backing Rob Pape for the win.

IN OTHER NEWS:

Chaingang got off to a flier last Tuesday and Thursday. A good turnout on both rides meant we were able to split into a couple of groups (with Thursday's ride splitting into three on the road).

Let's keep that going. Make sure you're in the correct group for your ability so you and everybody else can get the best training session. Keep it smooth, call out potholes and cars, be very careful at junctions and speak to eachother throughout. If somebody is surging, let them know, and if somebody tells you you're doing something wrong, it's not personal and it's for the good of the group.

Above all, obviously, stay safe and have a good ride.

SUBS ARE DUE:

For all those who haven’t paid in the last month or two, your VC York subs are due at the end of March. You can pay your subs at any time by going to the Join page on the club website and clicking ‘Club Membership’. It can then all be handled through the BC website.

This is also the link to use if you’d like to join the club, and of course, if you ride with us, we’d love you to join.

Keep the race updates coming. Good luck in your upcoming races and stay safe on the roads.
