VC York Weekly Update - 28th March 2017

Here’s your weekly VC York bulletin:

Chris Clark took his second win in two weeks, this time on the home turf of Dalby Forest's World Cup course in the Nutcracker XC series, round 1. A closer battle than the previous week's win at Sherwood, but despite a week of illness, Chris dug deep, called on his years of racing experience and took the win by around 20 seconds.

Phil Graves was racing at the Yorksport circuit (YH Training Spring Series #3) again on Tuesday and managed fourth place despite getting a tough time from younger racers. On Sunday 26th, Phil rode the Ilkley Sporting 10, coming 2nd to Adam Duggleby (Vive Le Velo) who broke the course record. He's also been out on a route recce for next weekend's Circuit of the Dales 50 mile TT.

Pete Hook rode in the Seacroft Wheelers RR on Sunday.  In the 3/4 race attempts to get a break going were repeatedly thwarted and Pete got stuck behind a crash in the final kilometre. In the 2/3 race afterwards, crosswinds put paid to Pete's hopes of a good race and he came up unlucky again.

Both Pete and Phil are doing the Circuit of the Dales TT this coming weekend.

Keep the updates coming in. If anyone else is racing, please let me know.

It's chaingang season! Tonight (Tuesday) is the first VC York chaingang of the year. Let's get as many out as possible, and if you can, please wear team kit so as to better identify the ride with or club. A few notes:

  • Tuesday is the Easingwold route (rolling)
  • Thursday is the Pocklington route (flat)
  • Both rides start at 6pm from the B&Q deliveries entrance on Osbaldwick Link Road
  • Riders are to split into reasonably sized groups. Choose a group that you can ride well in, not a group that you will struggle in.
  • Dom is hoping to be at the start on Tuesday to brief riders. When Dom is not present, someone else will do this. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE BRIEFING

For all those who haven’t paid in the last month or two, your VC York subs are due at the end of March. You can pay your subs at any time by going to the Join page on the club website and clicking ‘Buy Membership’. It can then all be handled through the BC website.

This is also the link to use if you’d like to join the club, and of course, if you ride with us, we’d love you to join.

Keep the race updates coming. Good luck in your upcoming races and stay safe on the roads.
