VC York Weekly Update - 21st March 2017

Here’s your weekly VC York bulletin:

A great week of racing for VC York riders with wins for Chris Clark and Phil Graves.

Chris took the win at the Midlands XC Series - Round 1, his first win in a Midlands regional. Having worked his way to the front in the first lap, Clark put the hammer down and  over the next three and a half laps managed to put about 40 seconds into the field to take the prize.

Phil Graves was a heavily marked man at the YH Training Series Round 2 at Yorksport on Tuesday but managed to take the top step of the podium in the 4th Cat and then 8th place in the 2/3/4. With 22 points in 8 days, Phil is now officially a 3rd Cat, which I'm sure will come as a relief to all 4th Cats.

Pete Hook was also in action at the YH Series on Tuesday and again at Yorkshire Day at the Races #1 on Saturday.

Pete Hook and Tim Jackson will both competing in the Seacroft Wheelers RR on Sunday 26th, a flat course which usually ends in a bunch sprint.

Chris is hoping to race at Dalby Forest on the World Cup course this weekend.

Norton Wheelers' Circuit of the Dales TT is on April 2nd, but entry closes today (21st March). If you fancy a 50 mile hilly TT in the dales, get your entry in.

As I'm sure everyone already knows, and has spent the last three months training specifically for, the VC York chaingang starts up again next Tuesday (28th March). A few notes:

  • Tuesday is the Easingwold route (rolling)
  • Thursday is the Pocklington route (flat)
  • Both rides start at 6pm from the B&Q deliveries entrance on Osbaldwick Link Road
  • Riders are to split into reasonably sized groups. Choose a group that you can ride well in, not a group that you will struggle in.
  • Dom is hoping to be at the start on Tuesday to brief riders. When Dom is not present, someone else will do this. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE BRIEFING

For all those who haven’t paid in the last month or two, your VC York subs are due at the end of March. You can pay your subs at any time by going to the Join page on the club website and clicking ‘Buy Membership’. It can then all be handled through the BC website.

This is also the link to use if you’d like to join the club, and of course, if you ride with us, we’d love you to join.

Keep the race updates coming. Good luck in your upcoming races and stay safe on the roads.
